White Coat Ceremony

After a couple of days of fun in the sun, it was time for Ryan’s orientation and white coat ceremony. The invitation said that families were invited so naturally we brought Aubrey with us and were really excited! When we got there we started getting acquainted with some of Ryan’s classmates and quickly realized that we were the only ones who brought a child with us. Everyone else opted for a babysitter or daycare. I immediately realized that this was probably going to be a problem.

The program hadn’t even begun and Aubrey was already squirming and ready to run! I tried to keep her quiet by keeping her mouth full of snacks but only a few minutes into the ceremony she had had enough of it and was getting ornery. Then she decided to participate in the meeting by speaking to the speakers as they were addressing the audience. Since we were in the third row, it was a little distracting to the speakers to say the least. My face got more and more red as she kept chiming in with, “Hey!"and “What?!” and random applause while shouting "Yay!". After a few minutes of trying to "shhh" her and put my hand over her mouth I just gave up and sat in the lobby. Of course as soon as we got out there she didn’t make a peep. So we sat there and eventually went outside and circled the building and parking lot a few times.

Thankfully, the doors to the Conference room were left open and we got back inside just in time to see Ryan stand up to receive his white coat. Sadly, I missed the opportunity to take a photo of him standing with his class but I was quietly cheering for him from the lobby and was able to take a pic of him in the parking lot after the ceremony ended. We love Aubrey but next time, we’re getting a sitter.

Fun in the Sun!!

Since we live near the beach now and Ryan was close to starting school, last week we decided to take a beach vacation while we still had time. It was Aubrey's first time at the beach and she absolutely LOVED it!! We tried out a couple of different beaches but she liked the second one the best. Pier 60 in Clearwater, FL.
She loved the sand and the water! The taste of the salt water was a surprise for her at first but after a minute she said ,"Mmmm!" with a big grin on her face. Then she kept putting her hands into the water and licking them! For some reason I only took videos on our phone of her in the water and not any on our camera. I'll have to get some on our camera next time.
She loved playing with this rake that Daddy bought her. She used it to burry his legs in the sand! She also loved the seagulls, and they loved our food. I was pinching off pieces of a sandwich and feeding them to her but the seagull was faster than Aubrey and took it right out of my hand. She thought it was so funny!Aubrey loved eating the sand almost more than playing in it.
We couldn't get her to stop eating it!But her most favorite thing was being burried in it! Twice!

Time to wash off in the ocean!
