Valentine's Day

Ryan and I are trying to save money even more than ever since we will be headed off to Florida soon for Ryan to finish school. So this year, I thought that we were just going to say "I love you" and exchange cards or something simple like that. Well, I have an awesome husband who must love me so much because he surprised me with not one, but TWO dozen beautiful roses and the sweetest love note that anyone could ask for! What a stud! I made him a heart shaped candy box like the ones that you see in the store and filled it with peanut M&Ms, which Ryan's been craving lately & I gave him a funny card. My mom always gave us little things on each holiday & I thought that it would be fun to carry on that tradition so we gave Aubrey a little pink and white puppy (stuffed animal of course). We didn't make any big plans since Ryan was on call with his job this weekend. We were just going to hang out around the house or go out to eat as a family, but Ryan's family saved us from our boredom and decided to come up and visit. We drove around for a while trying to find somewhere to eat where there wouldn't be a long wait. We ended up driving around trying to find the "Old House Resturant" which had apparently has been closed since Christmas since it was still decorated with Christmas lights. Finally, we drove into Winder and ate at Fatz Cafe. It was fuuny though since there is one right down the street from us in Athens. The food was good and we came back home and polished it off with a chocolate cake that I made. My cake making skills are still a work in progress but it turned out to be a pretty fun day anyway!

This Year So Far......

Well, I haven't been very good at posting all of the fun stuff that happens in our family, but I'm making a late New Year's resolution to be better at this. So to catch up on what has been happening with us so far this year... On January 18, 2009 Aubrey had her first birthday! YAY! It was so much fun! All of the family was able to come up and join us in Athens to celebrate. I made a funfetti cake with chocolate icing that didn't turn out so great, but everyone humored me and we all ate it anyway. I think that Aubrey enjoyed it the most! I cut her a piece and she didn't know what to think. She was very careful at first and of course had to squeeze it in her hands before eating it. Too funny! She must have a little bit of her Grandma Carter in her because she wouldn't even touch it with her left hand, she only let the right hand get messy. Grandma Carter hates messy hands too! .........

On January 23. 2009, Ryan had an interview with Nova in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. We made a weekend gettaway out of it and Aubrey stayed with Grandma and Grandpa in Warner Robins. It was a fun trip! Fun to be a couple again but most of the time I still kept thinking, "Where is Aubrey?". Ryan was guilty of it too! We love our little girl! Anyway, it was a long drive but we enjoyed it. Ryan set 2 alarm clocks to make sure that he would be up in time for his interview, but for some reason neither one of them went off. So he was supposed to interview at 8 a.m. and he woke up at 7:51 a.m.! We both rushed to get him ready and out the door and I was left to sit anxiously in the hotel room until he got back at 3 p.m. It went well and on Tuesday evening
we got the good news that he was accepted! YAY! So our next big adventure will be heading to Florida!

Ryan and I on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale. We
sat on the beach and watched the sunrise...

February 2009:
Here is Aubrey after eating her first Oreo. Not to be confused with her "I just ate my first piece of birthday cake" face. They do look similar but how could they not? A good sweet is always messy and is sure to put a smile on your face! We asked her if she liked oreos and she smiled and said her favorite word..."Yeah!"

Aubrey's first stomach bug! So sad!

My poor, sweet, little Aubrey. She has had a rough few days and to tell the truth it hasn't been that easy on the rest of us either. She just got over the croup(I guess that's how you spell it) about a week ago and now she's got a stomach virus. She has had it pretty tough lately but she sure is a trooper! It all started Sunday night. She threw up 5 times between 11p.m. and 2:30a.m. The last time that she threw up was on our bed. Lucky us! But it didn't even phase her. She had already dozed off about a half an hour before that and she didn't even wake up. Thankfully, she wasn't messy, except for her face, so we wiped her off and put her to bed. The next day she did great and we thought that that might be the end of it but I woke up this morning to find her covered in poo! That's right. It came out the other end! Well needless to say, I have been up to my elbows in laundry! I am so glad that we have a million blankets because we have used them all. Aubrey has such a funny personality though. She doesn't let it ruin her mood. She is just as happy as ever! In fact Ryan and I couldn't believe that she was even sick because she sure didn't act like it. She would throw up and go right back to smiling and playing. That's Aubrey for ya! Hopefully she will get better soon.
